Director's Corner

Dear Steele Regiment Families,

Please read to the end of this email as there is a lot of important information regarding this week.

What a wonderful performance our students enjoyed this weekend. I am so proud of students and I know they feel good about their progress in their show. Their performance, demonstration of professionalism in the stands, and working together as they moved all equipment around the school showed that we really are one hard working group with a unified goal. Congratulations on a wonderful weekend Steele Regiment. You truly are the "Pride of the Canyon." It was also a special treat to have three staff members from Steele Canyon, Principal Parr, Vice Principal Battle, and Geography teacher Mr. Martinez come and support us at our first show. Steele Regiment felt very supported over the weekend.

I want to thank the parents who helped out this weekend. Thank you Ross and Carrie Purcell for organizing the loading of the trailer and coordinating the parents. The Bailey's for making sure our students stayed hydrated and always come prepared. Mica and Grandpa Don, Brandy, Susanne, the Byrds, the Esparzas, and finally, the plethora of parents who helped our students get on and off the field and set up food donations for the students to enjoy after their performance. It is because of your help that our students were able to perform so well after such a hiatus.

Time to do it all over again, homecoming edition! This Saturday, we will be traveling to Poway High School to compete in our own circuit for a chance to qualify for State Championships with our first qualifying score. Here is the call time sheet for this weekend. Note that students that are attending the homecoming dance will be able to travel home early after their performance on the bus. They will leave around 4:15 to arrive back at the school at 5:00 P.M. Students will be on a list in order to come home early or stay late and cannot change their mind once their decision is made after Wednesday.

Also, formal pictures will be taken this Saturday Morning! Attached you will find the order form that was sent home with students last week.

Lastly, we are starting off our next fundraiser for Steele Regiment. Holiday Wreaths and Garland! Students will bring home information on this today and the information is attached to this email on what we are selling.

Trunk or Treat! Each year we set aside one day before Halloween to celebrate the evening with our Steele Regiment Family. This year it is Tuesday, October 26th. Families will come a little early and park near the stadium in a designated area. There they will open their trunks, decorate them to be fun and spooky, and pass out candy to our students. All ages are welcome and students will be dismissed early from rehearsal. It is encouraged that all dress in a fun costume as students will be in costume for that evening as well. This is a fun activity for students and a way to enjoy our Steele Regiment family without the pressure of a competition bringing us together. The more participants we have, the more fun it brings. We hope to see you there!

We have 33 days left of the season and what a way to start it off! Thank you for your interest, positivity, and support of our Music Department at SCHS!  It is an honor to work with each of you! As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Musically Yours,

Heather Luck, M.M.Ed.
